In my backyard I have many trees. I used to have two Japanese Maples, but one has sadly died. Both trees attract birds, especially the cardinals. After a snow storm I looked out to see a male cardinal sitting on one of the branches and took a photo of him to use as reference.
Winter in Maryland is the perfect time for studio painting and thus after cutting some panels I started working out how to use Mr. Cardinal. Well, why not pair him with a female. Everyone notices the beautiful red of the male, but the female is just a beautiful with her pink tinged light brown feathers.
