This image in pastel, from a photo taken in Yorkshire, captured Ivan's imagination with the striking reflection of the sunset on the water. The silhouettes of the trees also adds something special. Ivan has done a number of sunsets as they give an added dimension to any scene, even cities. Water is also a favourite as the reflections created give such depth.
It is completed using soft pastels and pastel pencils on Art Spectrum colourfix paper. The sharpened pencils create the detail and the background is blended using polystyrene sticks to give a three dimensional effect to the completed painting.
